1. What is a UAE Tax Residency Certificate (UAE TRC)?

A UAE TRC is an official document issued by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) to confirm that an individual or entity is a tax resident of the UAE.

This certificate is used to claim the benefit in the Form of reduced Tax in overseas countries, by availing the provision of Double Tax Avoidance Agreements (DTAAs) signed by the UAE .


2. Who can apply for a TRC in the UAE?

The following can apply for UAE TRC : –

  • Natural persons (individuals) who meet the criterion for being a tax resident or who are UAE Citizens ; and
  • Juridical persons (companies or legal entities) who are residents in the UAE  provided they meet the eligibility criteria in the UAE.

3. What is the validity period of a TRC?

TRC is valid for one year. This period can be selected by the applicant during the application process.
